  • How do I know if I need therapy?
Trust me, we all need therapy! This question is completely relevant to how YOU feel about YOURSELF. There is such a stigma surrounding mental health but in actuality 1 in 5 adults experience mental illness in a given year. It's also worthy to note and think about how many people aren't seeking help. Lucky for you - we are here. Whether you need to process something 'small' or something 'really really big' we will work together to meet your needs.
  • What if I think a loved one or my partner needs therapy?
Good one! You obviously care very much about this person. In order for us to complete therapy with an adult, we will need informed consent. Show them this website and encourage them to reach out by submitting a contact inquiry form. If they agree, we can get started. If you are feeling strain in your relationship and feel couples therapy would be helpful but your partner refuses to join - consider completing individual therapy with us so that you can work on your specific needs. Get your healing!

VIRTUAL SESSIONS For teletherapy sessions our work is done virtually and there is endless flexibility. The other added benefit of teletherapy is that since we meet online we are able to SERVICE ALL OF FLORIDA. If you reside outside of Florida we will not be permitted to complete treatment with you.
  • What exactly is teletherapy (online therapy)?
Teletherapy is a way for clients to connect with a trained professional for counseling in an online capacity. There are several programs out there for completing therapy online - but beware some outlets like SKYPE are not HIPAA compliant and can compromise your personal information. The platform we use is super easy and safe to use. Althought it does require an internet connection, webcam, and microphone it does not require downloading of any software. You will log in the same way each time. However, if there are technical difficulties your therapist can provide you with an alternative link. *You can use a laptop that has a built in webcam and microphone, desktop with attached webcam/microphone, or even your mobile device. *Please note that some insurance companies do not cover teletherapy sessions*
  • What should I expect in a therapy session?
After you send us an inquiry message, someone will reach out to schedule a formal date and time for your initial intake session with your assigned therapist. Once we have completed consultation and booked the appointment, you will receive two emails with next steps information so please be sure to check your messages. For your initial intake appointment you will be sent an email invitation to enroll in your client portal to sign your electronic intake paperwork. This MUST be completed prior to your first session. The client portal will also provide you access to amend and schedule future sessions to your convenience. The portal is also how you will meet for telehealth sessions. The first appointment is an intake session which is a diagnostic evaluation and conversation completed with your therapist. You will get to know one another, explore treatment goals, complete a depression and anxiety assessment, review practice policies and payment information, and schedule your future appointments. TELEHEALTH On the day of your telehealth appointment you will into your portal and click the JOIN TELELHEALTH button at the top of the screen for a virtual session. Your therapist will join the session so please sit tight. If there are technical issues please reach out to your assigned therapist via the contact information that was provided to you by email. IN OFFICE On the day of your appointment you will enter the lobby on the right side of the building. Sit tight, your therapist will come out and get you soon for your appointment. As a courtesy you may text your therapist to let us know you have arrived, but it is NOT necessary. The door remains locked in the lobby for security purposes. Pease do not walk into the office unprompted as we may be in session with another client. GENERAL INFORMATION Sessions are typically 50 minutes and will include a combination of listening, talking, reflection, psychoeducation on tools you can use to manage your issue, somatic work such as Brainspotting or EMDR, discussion on homework or a workbook assignment, and whatever else you'd like to utilize your time doing! Sessions look different for everyone because we all have different issues and needs. All interventions we use with you will be evidence based which means research has shown they work! You may see your therapist jotting down notes while you discuss but please be assured we are fully present and listening!
  • What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy is a form of body-centered therapy that looks at the connection of mind and body and uses both psychotherapy and bodywork for holistic healing. In addition to talk therapy, somatic therapy practitioners use mind-body exercises and other physical techniques to help release the pent-up tension and activation that is negatively affecting your physical and emotional wellbeing. Somatic therapy combines talk therapy with brain based therapy such as Brainspotting & EMDR. The therapist helps you revive memories of traumatic experiences and pays attention to any physical responses you have once the memory is recovered. Physical techniques, such as deep breathing, relaxation exercises, and meditation are then used to help relieve symptoms. Through developing awareness of the mind-body connection and using specific interventions, somatic therapy helps you to release the tension, anger, frustration and other emotions that remain in your body from these past negative experiences. The goal is to help free you from the stress and pain that is preventing you from fully engaging in your life. Your therapist will provide you with more information on somatic interventions and will incorporate this into your work together!
  • How much will this cost me? Do you take insurance?
INSURANCE BENEFITS Please note that not all therapists in the practice are in network with all insurances listed below. This varies per clinician. Also, at the time of intake an estimation of your benefits, copays, or coinsurances will be provided. However, it is solely an estimate and the exact amounts will not be certain until your claims return. We will maintain close contact with you regarding billing. As of 06/2023 TAINA is in network with the following insurances: Aetna Aetna Signature Administrator Plans (Meritain, Advent Health First etc.) GEHA CIGNA/Evernorth Behavioral AvMed/Magellan Behavioral Health Optum/UnitedHealthcare/UMR/OSCAR As of 06/2022 Clinical Interns are in network with the following insurances: Aetna Aetna Signature Administrator Plans (Meritain, Advent Health First etc.) GEHA CIGNA/Evernorth Behavioral Please check back frequently as this information will be updated ongoing. In the meantime, you may want to consider utilizing your out of network benefits or complete private pay options. OUT OF NETWORK Did you know that some health insurance plans include out of network benefits for mental health services? If we do not accept your current health insurance benefits, we can provide you with a 'SUPERBILL' invoice that you can remit to your insurance company so that you can obtain reimbursement for services. You would pay the full fee upfront and then your insurance company would reimburse you directly if your plan includes out of network benefits. This is also something to keep in mind if you have a high deductible insurance plan as you most likely will be paying the full fee anyway regardless of what therapeutic provider you want to see (in network or not). We can still provide a superbill invoice to ensure services go toward your deductible but bottom line is your out of pocket cost will be the same. It is your responsibility to research your out of network benefits with your health insurance provider. We know insurance stuff can be very confusing so please reach out to us for guidance and questions! PRIVATE PAY RATES Of course, if you do not have health insurance or if you prefer to out of using your health insurance benefits for confidentiality or personal reasons, you are able to complete therapy with private pay rates. As we are aware of varying copayment amounts across insurances, we have aligned our private pay fees to ensure quality care is obtained at an affordable price and competitive to the Tampa Bay area. A quick search for therapists on Psychology Today will show you the average rates for therapy provided by our clinical colleagues in the area. Also, please note that our registered clinical social work interns (master's level therapists) are NOT in network with all insurances above - (currently can ONLY see Aetna & CIGNA clients). In addition to Aetna & CIGNA, private pay rates to work with them are $99 per individual session or $117 per couples/family session. The Boutique also offers coaching services. This is perfect for clients that are not ready for therapeutic services. Insurance is not accepted for coaching work. Rates for coaching are currently $75 per individual session or $99 per family/couples session. Further, we offer an even deeper discounted private pay rate for working with our MSW Student Interns as they do not accept insurance at this time at $50 per session. Finally, the overall cost will depend on how often we will be meeting (weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc.) We will decide your treatment frequency together on our first session. This can always be changed depending on your personal progress and budget.
  • How long will I need therapy?
This is personal to YOU! Ultimately, as long as it is within your budget then the length of time you will need services will depend on you and the complexity of your emotional health and well-being. It will also depend on whether we will be seeing you weekly, biweekly, monthly, bimonthly, etc. When you start therapy we will create a formal treatment plan together. Just so you know, it is quite common for people to successfully complete treatment, live their life, and decide at a future time that they need a little more help and resume services. If you need the help, try not to worry about the time frame.
  • Can you REALLY help me?
We are confident we can! If your needs are beyond our scope it is important that we research and refer you to someone that can assist. We have been working with individuals and families for over 15 years and feel very proud of the impact that we have made on others. We can assure you we will share with you all the tools we know to help your situation. Be as open minded as your brain and body will allow you and enjoy the journey.
