about TAINA

I am an Afro-Latina with Caribbean roots that spent my childhood roaming the boonies of Okinawa, Japan.

The daughter of a devoted USAF CMSgt (R) that emigrated from the Dominican Republic and learned English at the age of 16 all to provide a good life for his family.

The daughter of a Puerto Rican mother from New York who wore metallic lipstick, had an infectious laugh and brightness in life that was inspiring, yet she silently and sometimes not so silently struggled with her mental health.

The sister of two older siblings that loved me as much as they could while battling their own growth and with an almost 10 year age gap between us.

I spent a lot of time reading and dreaming. I spent a lot of time alone.

I always knew human behavior intrigued me. I always knew I wanted to be helpful.

I always knew I was a social worker.

STRESS & BURNOUT. LIFE TRANSITIONS. INCLUSIVITY & LGBTQIA+. CREATIVE. ADVOCATE.

Let me guess - you’re feeling alone, have friends online and some in person, but still struggle to feel connected? You may feel lost trying to find yourself and figure out what makes you happy in this world. Do you find yourself staying up all through the night replaying that awkward encounter from your tween years? Do others tend to say you’re “soooo OCD” or “such a people pleaser”?

Then I may be just the right therapist for you.

I’m a listener, an artist, and a first generation college graduate. Growing up as a member of Gen Z (and as an only child), I found myself in more than enough awkward social situations and leaned into the wonder of online communities. I know how important it is to know you aren’t alone.

As a queer therapist, I have a passion for research and advocacy of all kinds, especially in the LGBTQIA+ community. I’ve found so much light and hope working with individuals who have experienced trauma/PTSD, OCD, dissociation, depression and anxiety. My drive for advocacy work and breaking barriers along with my values of creating safe spaces and trusting relationships with clients has led me to find my calling in Clinical Social Work. I come from an empathetic, humanistic and holistic approach, evaluating all of the areas that play a part in your life to help you troubleshoot realistic solutions and find peace. My love for art and storytelling drives me to find evidence-based, creative solutions to provide you with the best support possible.

My clinical approach and belief system is that we must first create a safe place in our body and minds so we can in turn feel safe enough to create the life of our dreams. I help people explore their identity to find their true self and step into their power. I believe that every person is capable of bouncing back and seeing life in a new energized light no matter what part of your journey you’re on. Let me help you!

EVERY person has the ability to take control of their narrative and live their best life, whatever that looks like for you! One of my favorite parts about the work I do is watching someone learn how to fall in love with life again. I look forward to working with you to uncover your passions and strengths to get your light back.

You are the one you’ve been waiting for, it’s time to commit to your healing and go to therapy.

Let's utilize your inner power and courage to build your BEST!

MINDFULNESS. MOTHERHOOD. ANXIETY. ADVOCACY. TRAUMA FOCUSED.

Hello! I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida—Go Bulls! Currently, I’m pursuing my Master’s in Social Work at Capella University. My journey into mental health and social work began in high school when I participated in the “Best Buddies” program, where I engaged with students with disabilities. This experience ignited my passion for advocacy and mental health.

After high school, I began working directly with individuals and families who suffer from trauma. I have also integrated mindfulness and self-care techniques to help combat trauma and anxiety. I have a passion for supporting mothers, especially single mothers, and folx struggling with life transitions.

As a lifelong resident of Tampa, FL, I enjoy activities like copper jewelry making, traveling, reading, and roller skating in my spare time. My passions lie in creativity, self-expression, mindfulness, and the power of empathy. My roots run deep in Florida; however, I have family all over the United States and a few abroad.

My advocacy work has deepened my commitment to being a supportive listener and guiding others toward wellness. Some of my goals include combating stigmas associated with therapeutic services and empowering people. I am also passionate about understanding the impacts of stress on mental health and well-being.

Life can present challenges for all of us, and seeking help is a sign of strength. No matter where you are on your journey, I’m here to support you, and positively impact you. Together, we can explore what thriving and wellness look like for you. Let’s embark on this journey together!
